Butterflies has been running since 1997. We are a pre school group associated with St Mary Madelene Church in Ashton on Mersey. Our aim is to provide a safe, caring and happy Christian environment where the children can learn through play and develop as individuals.
Early Years Foundation Stage areas of Learning and Development
| Communication, Language and Literacy | Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy | Knowledge and Understanding of the World |
| Personal Social and Emotional Development | Creative Development | Physical Development |
We cater for children aged from two and a half, and provide a choice of morning sessions from 9:15 to 11:45, and a lunch club. We follow closely Trafford primary school term times.
Butterflies is Ofsted registered for 26 children. We have a staff of four and have support from mums/dads or carers who like to volunteer regularly or occasionally. We provide a broad, balanced curriculum with a Christian bias which is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework from birth to the end of Reception in school. (5 years) The framework is based on the Every Child Matters Government agenda with five major outcomes;
| Being Healthy | Staying Safe | Enjoying and Achieving | Making a Positive Contribution | Economic Well Being |
And on the EYFS themes and principles so that the children can achieve the most they can in the earliest years of life
Themes
| A Unique Child | Positive Relationships | Enabling Environments | Learning and Developing |
The Children will learn and develop through carefully planned curriculum covering the six areas of learning, building on their own interests, providing first hand experience, giving clear explanations, making appropriate interventions and extending and developing play and language.
The pre school group is a member of the church community and its leaders hold Christian values and attitudes.
